Processing and Result
Understand reconstruction quality, review fonts and graphics, read the reports, and verify the IDML carefully in Affinity Publisher or another compatible layout app.
Batch processing
All documents in the queue are processed one after another. Reconstructible entries are converted to IDML; existing IDML files are checked and imported unchanged. “Stop after current document” safely terminates the batch as soon as the current processing is complete. Individual jobs can be removed via their context menu; “Remove completed entries” in the “Batch” menu removes all completed entries from the list, not their output files.
Understanding Output Quality
“Validated Original IDML” is the best source and remains unchanged. “Direct Reconstruction” imports recognized pages and objects. “PDF-Based Reconstruction” preserves the complete visual layout and adds editable text. “Preview-Based Recovery” uses embedded page images that cannot be edited individually. “Partial Reconstruction” indicates missing or skipped content. “Text Recovery” restores editable text without a reliable original layout.
Reports and Availability
After a successful structural check of the generated IDML, the app writes a readable HTML quality report and a complete technical JSON report. If the first run fails, no results report is generated. If the HTML report is missing later, “Open Quality Report” opens the available JSON report instead; if both are missing, the button remains disabled.
Review results
Open the IDML directly or view it in the Finder. The detailed view and the readable HTML quality report show the reconstruction summary, changes, fonts, graphics, boundaries, and recommended checks. The technical JSON report also contains all forensic findings.
Supported Content and Limitations
PDF/AI, JPEG, PNG, PSD, and TIFF are supported as linked graphics. EPS is skipped in the App Store version. Complex layers, master pages, tables, transparency, effects, interactive content, and plug-in objects can be simplified, preserved only visually, or omitted. A pixel-perfect reconstruction of every document is not guaranteed. For full details, see “Capabilities and Limitations” in the Help menu.
Keyboard Shortcuts
⌘O adds documents or packages, ⌘↩ starts processing all pending jobs, ⇧⌘R reconstructs the selected finished document or rechecks an original IDML, and ⌘? opens this guide.
